Be in the Mag

What's it like to do work experience at GF? One workie tells all!

Jul 18 01:02pm

Hey,

My name is Eilidh, and for the past two days I have been lucky enough to work here, at the Girlfriend magazine office.

When I first came in I was a little nervous - I mean, who wouldn’t be?! But I was then warmly greeted by the GF Editor Pam, who showed me around the office. I met everyone! When I say everyone, I really mean I saw everybody hard at work… Oh, and I couldn’t remember anyone's name! ;] Pam seated me at a desk, and gave me a few odd jobs to keep me occupied and busy. I drafted questions for up-coming interviews and filed magazines.

We then met with Jennifer Beckham - a young New Zealand inventor. We had a great time chatting to her and finding out all about her neat invention, the ‘Super Surfer’. I helped the Editorial Assistant Lucy with the Girlfriend Bebo page. It was heaps of fun answering all the questions and replying to all the comments from GF readers. (Ed's note: you can add us at bebo.com/nzgirlfriendmag!)

The next day I arrived a little late (oops!) and went to see Pam. She rushed out to a meeting, after giving me a few small jobs around the office. When she got back I was all finished. She told me to take a small break coz I was about to do a lot of walking - I went to the mall with GF Fashion Editor Krystal. We had an awesome time choosing clothes for some upcoming photo shoots. I even bagged myself a bargain at JayJays!

I’ve had a fantastic time at Girlfriend. It has been a brilliant experience, and I’m thankful that I had such a fabulous opportunity to come to such a great place.

Thanks for everything girls!!

Eilidh xo
