Body battler?
Remember, you're perfect just as you are. Some girls like to make a few changes to their lifestyle so they feel confident in their special dress; such as getting fit by exercising a few times a week, or eating healthier options in the lead-up to the dance. It's easy to make small lifestyle changes that'll make you feel good about your body and have your skin looking amazing in just a few weeks.
On a budget? You know how sometimes it's virtually impossible to tell a genuine designer bag from the fake? The same applies at the ball. A girl that spends hundreds on her ensemble isn't guaranteed to look a million bucks on the night, compared to 'Bree on a Budget'. If you're feeling inadequate coz your 'rents aren't rolling in it and your supermarket job won't fund your style ambitions, don't stress. Go op-shopping or borrow a dress, then accessorise with some cheap bling and some heels from Number 1 Shoes. Trust us, years from now you won' t remember what people wore at the ball. What you will remember is the girl who donned the killer smile and boogied like no one was watching!
D-floor disaster?
Do you only 'dance' to metal coz you know all you need to do is jump around? Hmmm - it's probably safe to say a ball's your worst nightmare.
Dancing's a wonderful thing as there really are no rules. As long as you're enjoying yourself, who cares what you look like? Remember that other people are conscious of their own moves, not yours. Dance with a group so you can chat and laugh at the same time. And if you spy someone staring at you on the dance floor, don't assume they're analysing your not-so-profesh bopping - they could just be admiring your dress or wishing they were out there having as much fun as you are!
Camera happy
Skip the 'cheese' in your ball pics for shots you'll wanna load on Bebo asap.
- Smile
Practice your photo face before the big day by having a friend take digital pictures of you (or log serious mirror time). When you're getting your ball pics taken, think happy thoughts so your smile looks genuine.
- Couple
Play up the chemistry with your date by leaning into him slightly. Put one hand on his back, place the other in his, and relax your shoulders.
- Group
Huddle up and lean into the middle to create a focal point for the photographer. Have fun with poses, but take at least one classic shot for your parents.
- Solo
The numero uno rule: Don't slouch! Stand with one foot in front of the other and turn slightly to the side (think Paris Hilton's trademark pose). Tilt your head and make eye contact with the photographer as you hold your shoulders back. Your body lingo will say 'cool and confident'.
