Peter: It all kind of blends - I think it's the first five tracks that kind of merge into each other. The point was to try to make an album [that is] almost like one piece of music. A lot of people just download one song and never listen to the rest of [an album]. Songs are great, [but] it's like trying to pick out four minutes of a movie and say that's the story.
What's the new sound like?
We've started writing songs people can dance to. You play these gigs and you have these songs out there but you can't really dance to it, but when you have a house party [and you're] rocking Michael Jackson or whatever... We wished we could do something like that!
The album's self-produced. Was it a team effort?
John [pictured centre] produced it. It's cool coz it means it's your own thing because it's really just been us who's made it. It means we have control over creating the thing that we wanted to create.
Did you design the album cover too?
Yeah we do all the artwork stuff as well.
You guys really put a lot of effort into it, don't you?!
Yeah I supposed growing up in NZ, especially in a small town, it's totally an NZ thing. We didn't really know any producers or people who did art and things like that so we just used to do everything; our own website and video props and everything. It was a really good thing at the start, coz if there were people we knew of, we probably wouldn't have gone through the pain and hassle of learning to do it ourselves.
